Fairy Godmother Project

 

 

 

 

 

Sizing Matters is involved with the Women’s Conference Fairy Godmother Project where the Fairy Godmothers are given $100 seed money to start a community project somewhere in the world.  Sizing Matters has partnered with the Women’s Rural Resource Centre (Strathroy Women’s shelter) and the 1st Komoka-Kilworth Scouts to make over part of the backyard for the Resource Centre. 

 

To raise funds, 4 Girlfriend Spa days will be held during the summer of 2008;  Sunday June 22, Saturday July 19, Saturday August 16 and Saturday September 20.  For only $60 per participant, you will receive a facial, makeover, reflexology, massage, professional bra fitting, and ionic foot detox.  A gourmet lunch is included.

Summer Sewing / Craft Camp:  Ages 8-12

Fabric, notions, thread and pattern for your choice of garment(s) to sew not included.  

Are you tired to spending money on pipe cleaner animal camps? 

This camp is about learning life long skills while having fun.  Learn: sewing safety, pattern modification, fabric layout and cutting, and machine sewing.  The difficulty of the projects will be tailored to each participants’ capabilities, but the intention is to create a “real”, wearable, trendy outfit.

As well, each participant will need 4 garments to embellish; we suggest going to Value Village or another second hand store to get 2 pairs of jeans, 1 jean jacket and 1 top.  We will use a variety of craft techniques to remake them into one-of-a-kind creations. A digital camera would be useful but not necessary.

Crafts:  Flower Power times two, fabric painting, crystallizing, card making, machine embroidery, etc.  The intention is to create truly useable crafts.
